Network Engineer

To help them successfully fulfil their ambition and support their future growth they are looking for a Network Engineer to join the organisation.

Overall Job Purpose
They are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join the Network Operations Centre (NOC).

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure proper operation of our client’s infrastructure worldwide
• Implement solutions for new services and features
• Implement solutions for platform extensions and upgrades

Technical Skills
• A sound IT background, specializing in the area of networking
• Experience with the management of MPLS/VPLS, Ethernet, and IP networks, and understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects, as well as protocols that are required to build and maintain them
• Experience with configuring BGP and a good understanding of routing protocols
• Experience with creating automation scripts, preferably using Bash and Python
• Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot complex, technical problems
• Good insight in the structure and relations that make up the Internet
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment
• Experience in composing detailed, technical documentation

Nice-to-Haves
• Understanding of the concept of a route server and Bird configuration experience
• Knowledge of VxLAN/eVPN
• Scripting experience in Perl
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible/Salt

Soft Skills
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written
• Good communication skills and teamwork mentality
• Ability to work in a small team of highly skilled professionals
• Open-mindedness, eagerness to learn, and ability to adapt
• Ability to perform under pressure

Additional Requirements
• Driving license (and willingness to drive)
• Ability to travel occasionally
• Willingness (and ability) to give subject matter presentations to various audiences
